Psychoanalysis und Analytical Psychotherapy

Psychoanalysis is the most intensive and comprehensive form of psychodynamic psychotherapy. It offers an opportunity to explore unconscious conflicts, recurring relationship patterns and personal themes that may have influenced a person's life over many years.

Many people find that certain difficulties persist despite their conscious efforts to overcome them. These may include relationship difficulties, feelings of emptiness, anxiety, self-doubt, or a persistent sense of not fully understanding themselves. Psychoanalysis provides a reflective and confidential space in which such patterns can be explored in greater depth, including their origins and meaning.

Treatment usually takes place three times a week over an extended period of time (typically around 300 sessions over several years). Depending on individual preferences and clinical considerations, sessions may be conducted either face-to-face or with the patient lying on the couch.

Psychoanalysis may be particularly helpful for people who:

  • wish to gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their inner world

  • experience long-standing psychological difficulties

  • find themselves caught in recurring relationship conflicts

  • seek a more profound process of personal development and emotional growth

The aim of psychoanalysis is not merely to alleviate symptoms, but to bring about lasting change in the way a person experiences themselves, relates to others, and understands their emotional life. In psychoanalytic terms, this process contributes to the strengthening of the self and the development of greater psychological resilience.
